First Place in Rotisserie

I am in a 12 team, rotisserie fantasy baseball league. I have been in this league for five years and finished in last place last year. It is with great pleasure that I caught the standings this evening with me having a comfortable lead. I know it won’t last.

Security is designed to protect us from the dishonest minority. It’s
important to remember that. I remember being told as a child: “Never
talk to strangers.” That’s actually stupid advice. If a child is lost
or scared or alone, the smartest thing he can do is find a kindly
looking stranger to talk to. The real advice is: “Don’t answer
strangers who talk to you first.” The difference is important. In the
first case, the child selects the stranger—and the odds of him
selecting a bad person are pretty negligible. In the second case, the
stranger selects the child; that’s more dangerous. I don’t think that’s
either optimism to rightly point out that most people are honest, or
pessimism to figure out how to best secure ourselves from the dishonest
minority; it’s analytical realism.

Cool “Disco” Dan is the Man

If you ever rode the Red Line back in the 90’s, then you know of Cool “Disco” Dan, the most prolific tagger in DC. His tags were everywhere. I met him in 95 when he visited our dorms for some reason. On his way out, he tagged one of the hallways in our dorm; his mark remained there less than a week. However, there are still a couple of tags out there near Union Station that have been there 10+ years.

Neo-Tokyo is about to EXPLODE – at Results Dupont

I ventured over to Results in “Dupont” last night for the first time – although calling 16th and U Dupont is a bit of a stretch – and it was a total scene. Not a “meat market” scene like many a gym in this town, but more like a “I just woke up at a foam rave in Ibiza” type thing. The techno bomb that was being dropped on my ears made the opening scene of Blade seems like “Moon River”. One song in particular would have made a get noise for air-raid sirens in an anime flick. Towards the end of my workout, I was granted sweet relief by Benny Benassi, of all music. How about a video?
